I. CALL TO ORDER
President Tony Rose called the special
meeting to order at 5:45 p.m. All
members of the board were present at roll call.
II. PURPOSE
OF THE MEETING
The meeting was called for the purpose
of approving a resolution in support of notifying the Pulaski County Election
Commission that no polling places be opened for the September 2004 annual
school election. According to Arkansas
law, if there are no contested races and no other issues to be decided, the
District may request that the Election Commission open no polling places, and
that voting be done at early voting sites and by absentee ballot only. This option will result in a savings of
approximately $35,000 for the District.
Ms. Strickland moved approval of the
resolution. Mr. Berkley seconded the
motion, and it carried unanimously. A
copy of the resolution will be attached to these minutes.
III. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business before the Board,
the meeting adjourned at
5:55 p.m. A budget worksession was
conducted immediately following the meeting.
